cpd logoWelcome to CPD Online

CPD Online has been created to help you with your personal development and/or Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Its main benefit is to provide you with a record of articles viewed on the Emergency Management Portal website, created automatically each time you look at an article and save it to your personal log. This log can be given to your employer as part of your personal development, or to your professional body as a record of one element of your CPD.

What do you get?

1. Online log of articles viewed
You may already be reading the news items on this website; with CPD Online you can keep a record of which items you have read for:

- your Personal Development, which may be a requirement of your employer or
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD), if you are a member of a CPD scheme.

2. Knowledge bank
CPD Online gives you access to regular news and information as well as a huge database of past articles and papers.

3. Access to useful information: warning websites, emergency planning guidance, glossary, legislation ... and much more

Remember, reading and using CPD Online is just one activity in your CPD. Your line manager, training or HR department or your professional body will be able to tell you which other activities you should undertake, such as training, attendance at events, and writing plans.

Online log

a. an online log of articles you have viewed and how long you viewed them, created automatically.

b. the option to record why you read them and any action(s) arising. This can be viewed and printed out to be attached to your Personal Development Plan (PDP) and/or to records of any other CPD activities you may be doing. Writing down your reason for reading an article and any action
arising shows that you are being selective in what you read, and may be a requirement of your CPD scheme.

reason for reading

c. you can write comments on articles for the benefit of other readers (exclusive to users of CPD Online)

comment

d. add other CPD activities to your personal log. This facility exists if you want to keep details of all your CPDactivities in one place. Alternatively, CPD Online allows you to create a file (csv file) from your log which can be incorporated into a
spreadsheet or your other CPD records (in the lattercase, you may need to check compatibility).

add

e. a weekly email with the week's news and information items.
