Peter Brodie completed the 10k run in 70 minutes 15 seconds, and is blaming the hot weather for a slow time. Contributions to the fundraiser are still welcome after the run.

Fundraiser for charity

Donate as much or as little as you like

The Emergency Management Portal's intrepid editor, Peter Brodie, has foolishly committed himself yet again to running the 'British 10K London' 10 kilometer charity run, which takes place on Sunday 11 July through the streets of Central London, starting at 0935. This year, he will be raising funds for ShelterBox (see left hand column). If you would like to donate, either before or after the run, when we will publish Peter's time (assuming he completes the run - which he has done every year, incidentally), you can do so online via his justgiving webpage.

Come and cheer Peter on

Peter would welcome anyone who wants to come to Central London to cheer him on during his run. There is usually lots of room along the course, and it should make a good day out. The race passes through the heart of historic London, passing many of London's world famous and iconic sights. These include Wellington Arch at Hyde Park Corner, St. James's Palace (the former London home of HRH The Prince Of Wales and princes William and Harry), Trafalgar Square, the magnificent St. Paul's Cathedral (the venue for Royal weddings and state funerals), the unique London Eye, Big Ben, the world's most famous clock, the British Houses Of Parliament and historic Westminster Abbey (the site of royal coronations and funerals) before finishing on Whitehall, just past the entrance of 10 Downing Street (the official London residence of British Prime Ministers). The route is shown on the organiser's website. Our best guess to see Peter is to stand somewhere near Big Ben at about 1100. Look out for
the t-shirt with the Emergency Management Portal logo (see photo of last year above).

Buy a download song for 50p for charity

As an alternative, or as an additional donation, Peter has recorded a new version of a song he wrote exactly 40 years ago entitled 'The Afternoons Are Cold Round Georgian Bay'. This song is available to preview at www.peterbrodie.com/downloads.html and you can purchase an mp3 download for the extremely low price of 50 pence Sterling. Proceeds will also go to ShelterBox.
